Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Helpi Life Ltd ("Helpi", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit our website, use the Helpi app, book a service through our platform, or otherwise interact with us. Please read it alongside any notices we give you when we collect your data.
Introduction
We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data in an open and transparent manner. This policy sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed.
Helpi Life Ltd is the “controller” responsible for your personal data. We are registered in England and Wales (Company No. 14827301) and with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
What this policy applies to
This policy applies to anyone who interacts with Helpi, including customers who book services, tradespeople ("Heroes") who provide services, and visitors to our website or app.
This website is not intended for children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data relating to anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Personal data we collect about you
Personal data means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. We collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you, which we have grouped together as follows:
| Category | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Identity & contact | First name, last name, title, billing and service address, email and telephone numbers. |
| Booking data | Details of the services you request, your job notes, appointment times and the Heroes assigned to you. |
| Financial data | Payment card details (processed securely by our payment provider — we never store full card numbers) and transaction history. |
| Technical data | IP address, device and browser type, time zone setting, and the operating system and platform you use to access our services. |
| Usage data | Information about how you use our website, app and services, including pages viewed and features used. |
We also collect aggregated data such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose. Aggregated data may be derived from your personal data but is not considered personal data in law as it does not directly or indirectly reveal your identity.
Sensitive data
"Sensitive data" refers to special categories of personal data — including details about your race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, health, or sexual orientation. We do not ordinarily collect any sensitive data about you.
Where access to your property is required, you may choose to share information relevant to the safe delivery of a service (for example, accessibility needs). You are never required to provide this, and we only use it to fulfil your booking.
How your personal data is collected
We use different methods to collect data from and about you, including:
- Direct interactions. You provide your data when you create an account, book a service, request a quote, or contact us.
- Automated technologies. As you use our site, we automatically collect technical data about your equipment and browsing actions through cookies and similar technologies.
- Third parties. We may receive data from analytics providers, payment service providers, and identity verification partners.
How and why we use your personal data
We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly we use it in the following circumstances:
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| To register you as a new customer and manage your account | Performance of a contract with you |
| To process and deliver your booking, including taking payment | Performance of a contract; legitimate interests in recovering debts |
| To manage our relationship with you and notify you of changes | Performance of a contract; legal obligation; legitimate interests |
| To send you relevant marketing and service updates | Consent; legitimate interests in growing our business |
| To improve our website, app, services and customer experience | Legitimate interests in keeping our services relevant |
You can ask us to stop sending you marketing messages at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any message, or by updating your preferences in your account.
How long your personal data will be kept
We will only retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting requirements.
To determine the appropriate retention period, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure, and the applicable legal requirements.
Transferring your personal data out of the UK
We primarily store and process your personal data within the UK. On the occasions we transfer data outside the UK, we ensure a similar degree of protection is afforded to it by making sure at least one appropriate safeguard is in place — such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
Your rights
Under data protection law, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal data:
| Right | What it means |
|---|---|
| Access | Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. |
| Correction | Ask us to correct data that is incomplete or inaccurate. |
| Erasure | Ask us to delete your personal data where there is no good reason for us to keep it. |
| Objection | Object to our processing where we rely on a legitimate interest. |
| Restriction | Ask us to suspend the processing of your personal data. |
| Portability | Request the transfer of your data to you or a third party. |
You will not have to pay a fee to access your personal data or to exercise any of your other rights. To make a request, please contact us using the details below.
Keeping your personal data secure
We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way. We limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents and contractors who have a business need to know.
We have procedures in place to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.
